  • Braves' A.J. Minter: Returns from injured list

    Rotowire

Atlanta activated Minter (hip) from the 15-day injured list Monday.

Minter has been on the shelf since late May with left hip inflammation. He made three rehab appearances at Triple-A Gwinnett, allowing two runs (one earned) with a 3:2 K:BB over three frames. Minter should immediately be thrown back into a high-leverage relief role when Atlanta begins its three-game series with the Giants on Tuesday.

  • Braves' A.J. Minter: Expected to be activated Tuesday

    Rotowire

Atlanta is expected to activate Minter (hip) from the 15-day injured list Monday, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

While making his third rehab appearance for Triple-A Gwinnett on Sunday, Minter tossed a scoreless inning. Assuming his left hip is feeling fine coming out of the minor-league outing, he should join Atlanta for the start of its three-game series versus the Giants. Daysbel Hernandez was optioned to Gwinnett following Atlanta's 4-2 loss to the Pirates on Sunday, creating an opening in the bullpen for Minter.

  • Braves' Daysbel Hernandez: Optioned to Triple-A

    Rotowire

Hernandez was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett following Sunday's 4-2 loss to the Pirates.

Hernandez was called up June 17, tossing 6.2 scoreless innings while striking out nine batters over six appearances out of Atlanta's bullpen. The right-hander will now head back to Gwinnett, but he'll likely get another shot with the big-league club down the road this season.

  • Oneil Cruz and Rowdy Tellez homer in 5th as the Pirates avoid sweep and beat the Braves 4-2

    Stats

  • Braves' Spencer Schwellenbach: Falls apart in fifth

    Rotowire

Schwellenbach (1-4) took the loss Sunday against the Pirates, giving up four runs on five hits over five innings. He struck out seven and walked two.

He cruised through four innings before running into a buzzsaw in the fifth, courtesy of two-run homers by Oneil Cruz and Rowdy Tellez. Schwellenbach had a similar issue in his last start against the Cardinals, giving up all four of his runs in the third inning. The rookie right-hander has now given up at least four runs in half of his six career starts and has seen his ERA jump to 5.68. He's scheduled for a tough test against the Phillies next weekend.

  • Braves' Adam Duvall: Filling in for banged-up Laureano

    Rotowire

Duvall will start in right field and bat sixth in Sunday's game against the Pirates.

Duvall will make his fourth consecutive start in right field in place of Ramon Laureano, who remains day-to-day with a back injury. Over his previous three starts, Duvall went 2-for-11 with a double and two RBI.

  • Braves' Ramon Laureano: Won't start Sunday

    Rotowire

Laureano (back) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Pirates.

Laureano will miss a fourth straight start while he contends with back soreness. Adam Duvall will get another turn in right field in place of Laureano, who is considered day-to-day.

  • Braves' Forrest Wall: Taking seat against southpaw

    Rotowire

Wall is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Pirates.

The lefty-hitting Wall will sit for the second time in the series while the Pirates bring another southpaw (Martin Perez) to the hill. With Wall on the bench, Luke Williams will pick up a start in left field.

  • Adam Duvall finally confident as Braves wrap up series with Pirates

    Stats

  • Braves' Jarred Kelenic: Tags Skenes for leadoff homer

    Rotowire

Kelenic went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Saturday's 2-1, extra-inning win against the Pirates.

Kelenic got to rookie phenom Paul Skenes for a solo homer to lead off the bottom of the first inning, though that was the only run Atlanta managed until Adam Duvall hit a walk-off single in the 10th frame. Kelenic has been hot of late, collecting three multi-hit efforts over his past five games. He's batting .474 (9-for-19) with two long balls, five RBI and a stolen base during that stretch.

  • Braves' Max Fried: Battles Skenes in no-decision

    Rotowire

Fried allowed one run on six hits and three walks while striking out four batters over six innings in a no-decision against Pittsburgh on Saturday.

Fried pitched very well in the contest, matching the six-inning, six-hit, one-run line put up by rookie phenom Paul Skenes for the Pirates. The Atlanta hurler has given up exactly one run in each of his past three starts, though he was just one win in that span. While Fried's strikeout numbers are down this season -- he has just 84 punchouts over 96 innings -- he's put up his usual ace-quality ratios otherwise with a 2.91 ERA and 1.09 WHIP through 16 starts.

  • Duvall delivers walk-off single in 10th as Braves overcome strong start by Skenes, beat Pirates 2-1

    Stats

  • Braves' Ramon Laureano: Held out Saturday

    Rotowire

Laureano (back) isn't in Atlanta's lineup for Saturday's game against the Pirates.

Laureano is still managing a sore back, so he'll take a seat for the third game in a row as Atlanta faces Paul Skenes and the Pirates. Adam Duvall will pick up another start in right field while Laureano recovers.

  • Braves' Sean Murphy: Idle Saturday

    Rotowire

Murphy isn't in Atlanta's lineup for Saturday's game against the Pirates.

Murphy has gone just 3-for-17 with three strikeouts and four walks over his last six games, and he'll get a day to regroup Saturday as Atlanta faces Paul Skenes and the Pirates. Travis d'Arnaud will start behind the plate instead and bat sixth.

  • Braves' Marcell Ozuna: Collects three RBI in win

    Rotowire

Ozuna went 1-for-2 with a double, three RBI and a run scored in Friday's 6-1 victory over Pittsburgh.

The veteran designated hitter faced Martin Perez in the third inning with the bases loaded and laced a bases-clearing double to push Atlanta's lead to 4-0. Ozuna kept his hot June cooking, as he entered this contest slashing .286/.369/.505 with five homers, 15 runs scored and 15 RBI over 103 plate appearances before this performance. The 33-year-old looks bound for his third All-Star appearance, as he's hitting .304 with 21 homers, 47 runs scored and 67 RBI total this season.

  • Braves' Charlie Morton: Carves up Pirates in victory

    Rotowire

Morton (5-4) earned the win Friday against Pittsburgh, throwing 6.1 scoreless innings with seven strikeouts. He allowed three hits and one walk.

The 40-year-old looked sharp over a 104-pitch outing, generating 15 whiffs -- including seven on his curveball alone -- to collect seven punchouts. Morton wrapped a successful June, firing a 3.10 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 28:13 K:BB across 29 innings. The Atlanta right-hander is slated to face the Giants at home in his next start.

  • Braves' Tyler Matzek: Throwing at 90 feet

    Rotowire

Matzek (elbow) has been playing catch from 90 feet, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

Matzek has been shelved since May 7 due to inflammation in his left elbow. He's yet to throw off a mound and isn't anywhere close to returning at this point.
